Jason has a passion for exploration, and has visited 25 countries and about 150 wineries. He has led visitors to cities and national parks throughout the West. Previous work as a marketing writer included extended assignments in South America, and travel industry leadership has included being Board Chair for San Francisco City Guides and the San Francisco Tour Guide Guild. His major interests include California history, architecture, and the natural history of the Western U.S. He also loves hiking and building backyard landscape projects. Jason’s most unusual custom experience was leading a tour for a European President, in a Secret Service motorcade.

The view of the bridge from Fort Point. Only a fraction of the visitors who go to the other viewpoints, but very dramatic view, historic fort, and, often, surfers.

Get your Alcatraz tickets at least 6 weeks ahead in summer, and pack warm clothes! Avoid traveling on holiday weekends since you’ll mostly spend your time in traffic.
